Friday, April 28th - Mark your calendars now for the Pinetop-Lakeside Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Banquet. We’re going all out and hosting just 150 guests at the White Mountain Nature Center in Lakeside at our 1920s style speakeasy casino.

Tickets are $50 per person and include your buy-in gaming “money” and food. We will have a 50/50 raffle, a drawing for a Tuft & Needle mattress, small-prize drawings, big-prize drawings, a pay bar, candy-cigarette and shots girls, and—of course—award presentations for large business of the year, small business of the year, businessman of the year, and business woman of the year.

Friday, May 5th - BRHS Youth Plan Colorful Cultural Celebration from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, across from Pinetop-Lakeside Public Library (Hwy. 260 and Johnson/Woodland Drive intersection).

The traditional celebration is popular among communities in Mexico and North America marking the Mexican defeat of French troops at the Battle of Puebla in 1862.

Blue Ridge High School (BRHS) student organizers plan a fun and informative afternoon encouraging community members to experience Mexican culture and community information. Participants can earn prizes by visiting all participating booths to have their “passport” stamped. BRHS Students Against Destructive Decisions, Culinary Arts and Spanish clubs collaborate to organize this event.

There are folkloric dancers from Holbrook; food and beverages provided by local businesses including Aliberto’s, La Hacienda, El Patron, El Rancho, La Gaviota, Los Corrales, Love Kitchen and the Blue Ridge High School Culinary Arts Program. Candy-spilling piñata bashing, a photo booth, games, the bounce house and fun from We Amuse Fun Zone are provided free. Other supporters include Nexus Coalition for Drug Prevention, White Mountain Nature Center, the Town of Pinetop-Lakeside and Library.

For details or to participate, contact organizers Emilia Banuelos - miliaban4@gmail.com or Raphael Banuelos - rafaban98@gmail.com

This Weeks Guest:  Kayley Willis, 3E Snacks.  The 3E Snacks program provides a weekend supply of food for children in need when school lunch and breakfast is unavailable. It is our hope these resources will support the health, behavior, and achievement of every student that participates.

The program is funded through the generous gifts of local contributors. Food bags are distributed by your school to children in need on Friday or before a school break.

One of the ways that you can help solve childhood hunger in our community is by donating food that is non-perishable and easy to prepare. These types of foods are easy for kids to take home over the weekend and quickly and easily prepare by themselves, if needed.  Thank You for Caring!!
