Who is Penny Comerford?

I have worked at ChangePoint for 9 years. I was born and raised here and proudly have never lived anywhere but here. A true mountain girl. I have been married 38 years, with 2 kids and 6 grandkids. I previously worked for Catholic Social Services and trained foster parents for the State of Arizona. I currently teach domestic violence groups for abusers and teach the recovery groups for substance abuse. I LOVE my job!

In this episode Birdman visits with Newell Belnap, Physician Assitant

for the Show Low Outpatient Programs, ChangePoint Integrated Health.

Who is Newell Belnap:

Newell Belnap has worked for ChangePoint for over 8 years.  He received a bachelor’s degree at Brigham Young University in 1997.  Newell graduated from physician assistant school at Quinnipiac University School of Medicine in 2001 earning the Director’s Award along with several scholarships. 

He has been in clinical practice since 2001 working mainly in family medicine, but also in psychiatry and pediatric neurology.  Professional interests are the neurogenomics of rare disorders.  He does research at Translational Genomics Research Institute’s (TGen) Center for Rare Childhood Disorders in Phoenix.  He studies undiagnosed patients using the latest genomic technology to find diagnoses for patients and has published several journal articles.

In his free time, Newell enjoys spending time with family, traveling, skiing, backpacking, and mountain biking.

Who is Tracie Button:

Tracie Button joined ChangePoint Integrated Health in December 2016 as the Human Resource Manager. 

She comes to ChangePoint with over 20 years of diverse medical, human resource & office management experience which ranges from corporate manufacturing & industrial services to Director of Blood/Plasma donation centers. 

She has an Associates of Applied Science in Business Management and is currently working on her Bachelors of Science in Sociology.  She plans to complete her Masters in Sociology, as well. 

Tracie enjoys being a CASA volunteer for Navajo county.  She is active in her church and especially likes teaching the children.  She loves time with her family in the outdoors and will take any chance she gets to go hiking or fishing (unless it’s cold weather)!

Carly has been with ChangePoint for over 9 years where she has held multiple positions, and is now the Program Director for the Show Low Outpatient programs. She received her B.S. degree in psychology from Northern Arizona University and MS in clinical mental health counseling from Walden University. She was born and raised in Show Low.

Reanna Hawk has completed a Masters in Professional Counseling and a Bachelors in Chemical Dependency, substance abuse and addiction and will soon be a Licensed Associate Counselor.

She is beginning her Doctorate degree this summer for Neuropsychology and will be going back into the Military (Army) as an officer.

She is a gypsy, enjoying any and all things outdoors unless there is snow.  Her fiancé and her have been together for over 10 years and she has helped raise three step children and her two goddaughters.

She has lived on the east, south and west coast and prefers​ a humid climate.

Shelly Ehmann - COO

Shelly Ehmann is the current Chief Operating Officer for ChangePoint Integrated Health.  She has worked in the behavioral health field for 28 years.  Her experience includes residential treatment facilities, private practice, crisis intervention, and counseling.  She has years of experience working in both direct care and administration.  She received her Masters of Counseling from University of Phoenix.  She is currently working on her Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership with an emphasis in Behavioral Health.  She currently is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Arizona.  Shelly spends her leisure time traveling, she holds a masters belt in Karate, and enjoys outdoor activities including camping with her dog.

Paula Kaye Martin - Director of Quality Management

Paula Kaye is the Director of Quality Management for ChangePoint Integrated Health. She has been with the organization for over 15 years. She has worked in the behavioral health field for over 27 years. Her experience has ranged from group homes, inpatient psychiatric, homeless shelter, to in-home and office counseling. She received her B.S., MSL, and is currently working on her Doctorate from Grand Canyon University. She also holds a Masters in Counseling from Northern Arizona University. She currently holds the license of LISAC for the State of Arizona. She has the philosophy of work hard to play hard. She travels out of the country seeing new areas any chance she gets.

This Episode Birdman chats with Kristi Iannucci and Cara Quade about how Mental Health and Physical Health and closely related, both from a similarity in affect and treatment to how they can be interconnected.

 

 Cara Quade - Associate Medical Director

Cara is the Associate Medical Director and Outpatient Nursing Director for ChangePoint Integrated Health. She has worked for ChangePoint for 13 years. She received her Master's degree from the University of Arizona in 2002. In 2015, she obtained a Post-Master's Certificate in Family Practice. She has worked in specialty areas of psychopharmacology, postpartum depression, and use of psychiatric questionnaires/testing within the diagnostic process. Cara is completing the final year of her Doctoral program through Arizona State University, where she is focusing on leadership and bringing evidence-based research into the clinical realm.

Kristi Iannucci and Chris Klisares discuss the recovery process further and talk about Mental Health 911.

Christine Klisares has been a resident of the White Mountains since 1978.  

As an Associate Faculty member, Christine taught 17 different Office Education courses for Northland Pioneer College.

Christine worked with Navajo County Probation for 15 years. During that time, she worked with the department's Juvenile Search and Rescue/Outdoor program which taught at-risk juveniles outdoor activities in order to boost self-esteem and deter delinquent behavior. She also developed and implemented a local YWCA CHOICES program working with at-risk female juveniles also to boost self-esteem and deter delinquent behavior.

Christine is currently employed at ChangePoint Integrated Health’s outpatient mental health clinic. As a Crisis Counselor with Community Counseling Centers, Christine has conducted hundreds of first hand mental health crisis assessments/de-escalations. As a Crisis Intervention Orientation Trainer, she has trained numerous new hires with varied levels of education and experience.  

  • Certified through the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation in Individual Crisis Intervention and Peer Support and Group Crisis Intervention.
  • Certified through the Salvation Army in Emergency Assistance in Disaster Operations and Disaster Shelter Operations and Management.
  • Certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor through the National Counsel for Mental Health.  
  • Certified Clinical Liaison though the Arizona Department of Health Services. 
  • Lifetime Arizona Community College teaching certification.  
  • Graduate NAU College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, Public Agency Services.
