Northeastern Arizona is a recreational gold mine. OUR Arizona is where outdoor enthusiasts experience the best of fishing, hunting, off-roading, skiing, tubing, sledding, camping and geocaching. OUR Arizona is a higher-elevation treasure trove full of history and Old West lore, encompassing the communities of Eagar, Navajo County, Pinetop-Lakeside, Show Low, Snowflake, Springerville, St. Johns, Taylor and Winslow. Arizona is known for its desert climate, cactus, hot summers and mild winters, but OUR Arizona is a unique contradiction.
What is Geocaching:
Geocaching is a free real-world outdoor treasure hunt. Players locate hidden containers, called geocaches, using a smartphone or GPS and can then share their experiences online.
What is a GeoTour:
GeoTours are a series of geocaches tied together by a common theme, such as the history, recreation or points of interest of a given area or region. There is no fixed itinerary, like on a traditional trail, but rather a series of points of interest in a self-guided, goal-oriented plan.
What is the Route 66 GeoTour Passport:
The Official Route 66 White Mountain GeoTour Passport functions as a logbook for you to track your progress as you hunt specially placed geocaches along the tour. This passport lets you record “special codes” from the geocaches you find in order to qualify for the Route 66 White Mountain GeoTour Special Edition GeoCoin. Earn extra cache dash points if you stay or eat at our participating sponsor lodgers and restaurants. Earn 20 points on your passport just for attending the GeoTour Grand Finale event!
What is a GeoCoin:
The Route 66 White Mountain GeoTour GeoCoin is a uniquely designed coin created to reward geocachers who complete our GeoTour Passport by collecting points for finding specific geocaches, as well as dining and lodging with our sponsors. Each GeoCoin is trackable on www.geocaching.com.
